Cupping therapy is an alternative medicine technique that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction on various parts of the body, such as shoulders, back, hips and legs. The suction created by the cups increases blood flow to the area to promote healing and stimulates the immune system.
Cupping therapy is often used to:
- Relieve muscle tension
- Relieve pain and spasms
- Reduce inflammation
- Expectoration of phlegm from the lungs
During a cupping session, the cups are typically left on the skin for a few minutes, and our therapists may move them around to different areas of the body. Some people may experience temporary redness, bruising, or discomfort after a cupping session, but these side effects typically go away within a few days.
